Etiology
The most common cause in children is poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (PSGN).
The differential diagnoses also include other types of postinfectious GN, as well as secondary causes of GN, such as Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) and, very rarely, shunt nephritis or subacute bacterial endocarditis.2
